How padel clubs are turning saunas into a revenue stream

Padel is social by design. Doubles by default, short games, and a crowd that wants to stay and talk when the match ends. Most clubs monetise the court time and let the after-match hour walk out of the door.

A sauna changes what that hour is worth. Players book a session after their game, stay longer, spend more at the bar, and leave with one more reason to pick your club over the one down the road. It deepens the club culture that padel already trades on: the sauna bench is where the rematch gets arranged.

Our benchmark for a 10ft container sauna at a padel centre or city venue, based on hours open each week:

• Around 40 hours a week: roughly £80,000 turnover a year
• Around 50 hours a week: roughly £100,000 turnover a year
• Around 60 hours a week: roughly £120,000 turnover a year

Two things make the padel maths work harder than most venues. The sessions sell in the same booking system as the courts, so there is no new behaviour to teach. And the demand shows up at the hours you already have footfall, evenings and weekends, when the sauna seats 8 people at a time.

Take-home after running costs is typically 60 to 70 per cent of turnover.

• Partner. For select opportunities, the no-capital route. We place and maintain the sauna, you provide the site and the players, and we share what it earns.

An honest note: no padel club is on our operator map yet, so the closest proof comes from venues in the same position, businesses that added heat beside something customers already came for.

Fowey Hall Hotel in Cornwall added one sauna for guests who were already there. It filled, stays lengthened, and the group has gone on to order two more. The same logic holds courtside: your players are already at the club, racket in hand, twice a week.
