Horsebox Sauna
Built in Suffolk and fully road-legal, our horsebox saunas are designed for operators, glamping sites and hotels who want an authentic sauna anywhere.
“The horsebox is where it all started for us. We take a road trailer and turn it into a proper Finnish sauna by hand, so no two are ever quite the same.”
The designs
Every one built by hand in Suffolk.

Built to last
Handmade in Suffolk, made to last for years, if not decades.
Every horsebox sauna is built by hand in our Suffolk workshop, tested before delivery and designed to take years of daily use in commercial settings. Our iconic horsebox saunas bring together British character and Finnish sauna tradition. Fully road-legal and built in our Suffolk workshop to order, each horsebox delivers a real sauna experience wherever you choose to put it. Thermo aspen lining, LED mood lighting and an authentic Finnish heater as standard.

“The nice thing about us both operating and building saunas is we've done it for five years now. We've made the mistakes so you don't have to.”Tom, founder
Heat. Cold. Rest. Return.
It's not the box. It's what happens inside it.
Step in, slow down, come back better. Whether it's yours alone or the most-booked thing on your site, this is the bit the spec sheet can't show you.

Common questions
Can I visit the workshop or try a sauna before I buy?
Yes, please do. The best way to decide is to sit on a bench in one: almost everyone who visits the workshop ends up owning a sauna. Get in touch via the build enquiry form and we'll arrange a visit, or come to one of our public sessions on the coast first.
Do you build indoor saunas?
We get asked this a lot, and the answer is no: we build outdoor saunas only. Fresh air on your face when you step out is half the experience; even a view of the sky in the middle of a city changes it. However nice an indoor sauna is, that sense of escape is what's missing. Every build we do, covered or not, keeps that connection to the outdoors.
How long does a sauna build take?
Lead times vary by build type and current workshop capacity. Horsebox and container builds typically take 8–16 weeks from order to delivery. Contact us for a current estimate.
Do you deliver outside Norfolk/Suffolk?
Yes. We deliver across the UK. Delivery costs depend on location. International shipping can be arranged. Contact us to discuss.
What warranty do you offer?
All our builds come with a 12-month structural warranty. Heaters are covered by a 1-year manufacturer warranty. We offer ongoing maintenance support and spare parts.
What is the order and payment process?
Get in touch via our build enquiry form, or email builds@saunabox.co.uk if you'd rather not fill in a form. We arrange a call to go through your project and send a personalised quote (usually within 7 days). A 50% deposit secures your workshop slot; we send progress photos as we build and confirm a completion date; final payment is taken on completion, along with a handover on using your sauna, and business tips, if relevant. Financing is also available through our finance partner, from around £1,000 a month.
Wood-fired or electric heater, which is best?
It's a personal choice based on how and where you'll use the sauna, and both let you pour water on the rocks. Wood-fired is the more traditional, romantic option and ideal for off-grid sites. Electric is the more convenient choice, with app control and timers.
How long does a sauna take to heat up?
Typically 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the sauna design, its size and the heater you choose.
How long will my sauna last?
Our saunas are built to last for years, if not decades, when well maintained. Longevity depends a lot on the setting (coastal, woodland, garden) and how it's looked after.
What maintenance is required?
Fairly minimal. Clean with warm soapy water (an eco dish soap) and a microfibre cloth, and bake the sauna dry after each session (heat for around 30 minutes). Depending on use, re-oil the timber and change the stones roughly once a year, review every 3–6 months for commercial use, plus a chimney sweep for wood-fired heaters.
