Sourcing the trailer

Before any sauna work begins, the trailer itself gets checked over: chassis, brakes, wheels and tow hitch all need to be in genuinely good condition, because this trailer has to keep towing safely for years, not just look right once it's fitted out. Stripping and preparing
Next, the original horsebox fittings, partitions and internal fixtures come out entirely, back to the bare shell. That shell gets inspected and prepared before anything new goes in: any wear on the floor or structure is addressed at this stage, because it's the last point where the whole trailer is easy to access before the sauna build starts filling it in.
Insulation and vapour barrier
A sauna is a hot, humid room sitting inside a metal-framed trailer, so insulation and a proper vapour barrier are what stop that moisture working its way into the structure over years of use. The walls, roof and floor are insulated first, then sealed behind a vapour barrier before the timber lining goes on top, so the heat stays in the room and the moisture doesn't get behind the timber where you can't see it.
Timber lining
Thermo aspen lining goes on the walls, ceiling and benches, our standard across every horsebox and container sauna we build. It's timber that's already been heat-treated before it ever reaches the workshop, so it's stable and durable under the daily heating and cooling cycle a commercial sauna goes through, rather than the kind of timber that might warp or crack under that same use.
Heater installation
A Narvi heater is fitted and wired as standard, sized correctly for the space it's heating. This is also the point where a wood-fired vs electric heater choice, made earlier in the order process, gets built in: the two need different clearances and connections, so it's decided before the build reaches this stage, not after.
Bench design
We build two bench layouts on the horsebox, and you choose which one before your build starts. Layout 1 is L-shaped benches around the view, seating 6 to 7 people and taking around 22 days to build; it's the layout most people choose. Layout 2 is parallel facing benches, the more traditional Finnish arrangement, seating up to 8 and taking around 23 days. Both are priced the same, so the choice comes down to how you want the room to feel and how many people you're building for.
External finish
LED mood lighting is fitted throughout as standard, and this is also where an external paint colour choice, if you want one, gets applied, along with any other cosmetic customisation. This stage is what makes each horsebox feel finished and branded, rather than just a functional hot room on wheels.
Electrical sign-off
Every horsebox is built to commercial specification, which means the electrics get tested and signed off in the workshop before it's cleared to leave, not left for you to sort out on site. That's part of what you're paying for with a built-to-order commercial sauna over a flat-pack pod: it arrives ready to wire in and switch on, not as a kit you're still finishing yourself.
Delivery
Because it's on a road-legal trailer, delivery is the simplest part of the whole process: it tows behind a 4x4 straight to your site, rather than needing a lorry or a crane the way a fixed container installation sometimes does. That also keeps day-one setup simple wherever you're putting it, on grass, shingle or hardstanding.
